MAO Sophany
Director
Sophany, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
She has over 9 years professional experience working with young adults at various NGOs. Her roles have included social work management, community development, education, vocational training and professional counseling.
She started with EGBOK in 2016 as a Social Department Supervisor, later in 2018 she was promoted as Deputy Director in charge of the social and education departments.
At SPOONS Cambodia Organization, Sophany is the Executive Director in charge of the daily management of Spoons Café and Spoons Organization.

DOM Sambo
Deputy Director
Sambo, is originally from Banteay Meanchey province.
His journey began in 2012 after high school when he pursued vocational training in Restaurant & Bar Management at Ecole D'hôtellerie Et Tourisme Paul Dubrule. He even enjoyed a vibrant 2-month internship in Thailand. Following that, he showcased his skills at Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort, starting as a server and swiftly rising to F&B Captain at their French fine-dining restaurant.
Joining the EGBOK team in 2017, Sombo moved from restaurant supervisor to the education department in 2019, completing a Diploma in Hospitality Management and becoming an education coordinator.
His journey continued during SPOONS Cambodia's transition in 2021, where he assumed the role of Program Manager, and now, due to his exceptional leadership, Sombo proudly serves as Deputy Director.

KEO Vuthy
Head Chef & Culinary Trainer
Vuthy is originally from Siem Reap province and has more than 20 years of experience in the kitchen.
In 2002 he started as a cook in Sofitel Phokeethra Golf & Spa. In 2008 he moved to Somvadevi Hotel as a Pastry Chef and Baker, one year later he went to Greece to work for Piccazzo Hotel as a Demi Chef. After coming back to Cambodia, he worked as a Sous Chef at Sofitel Phokeethra Golf & Spa.
From 2020 until 2021, he joined SPOONS Cambodia as the Head Chef and Cook Trainer, then moved to Angkor Parves during the pandemic.
In July 2023, he decided to return to SPOONS and rejoin our family again, he is now in charge of training the culinary students at SPOONS Cambodia Organization and managing the kitchen operations at SPOONS Café.

RITH Teav
Restaurant Supervisor
Teav is originally from Siem Reap.
She started her journey as a volunteer and later became a teacher at the Heart Foundation Free Learning English Center for 3 years. Teav joined EGBOK's class of 2015-2016, and after graduation, she served as a waitress at Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor for a year and at Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa for over a year.
Joining EGBOK in August 2018 as a Housekeeping Trainer, Teav brought valuable hospitality experience to the team. In 2021, during our transition, she was promoted to Social Work Supervisor, showcasing her leadership skills and social skills.
Presently, Teav shines as our Restaurant Supervisor, displaying outstanding leadership qualities.

HUY Bunty
Accounting and Admin Supervisor
Bunty is originally from Kralanh district, Siem Reap province.
After graduating high school in 2013, she received a scholarship from Pepy Empowering Youth for two years. During her studies, she worked as a volunteer to survey school dropouts and hygiene at local community schools.
From 2013 - 2017, she pursued her bachelor's degree in accounting at Vanda Institute. Prior to joining EGBOK in July 2017, Bunty gained experience as an accountant with a local non-profit organization.
Presently, she’s pursuing with SPOONS Cambodia Organization as Accounting and Admin Supervisor.

KOES Doeurn
Social Work Assistant
Doeurn is originally from Srei Snom district, Siem Reap province.
In 2020, she graduated high school and received a scholarship from PEPY Empowering Youth in 2021.
Currently, she is a junior student at (PUC) Pannasastra University of Cambodia in Siem Reap.
In January 2022, she started a 9-month internship with SPOONS Cambodia Organization and got offered a full-time job after completing her internship with SPOONS as an assistant to Social Work Supervisor.

CHETH Chiy
Administrator Assistant
Chiy is from Varin District in Siem Reap province.
She graduated from Varin high school in 2020, after graduation she received a scholarship from PEPY Empowering Youth to continue her study. After graduating from PEPY 1 year program in computer class, English language, and soft skills in 2021, she applied for an internship program with SPOONS Cambodia Organization in January 2022.
Nowadays, Chiy is a full-time staff as an Administrator Assistant with SPOONS and is a junior student majoring in Bachelor of Law at Build Bright University.

SOK Kuntheary
Sous Chef and Culinary Trainer
Kuntheary is an alumnus of Sala Bai Training School in 2009-2010.
She has more than 11 years of experience as a Chef. She started her internship at Sofitel Angkor Phokeethra Golf & Spa Resort as a cook trainee in 2010 and was hired to be a full-time cook helper before getting promoted to be a senior cook in 2019.
Currently she is a Chef Assistant at SPOONS Café and Restaurant and also a culinary trainer at SPOONS Cambodia Organization.

SUN Sam Oath
Assistant Head Chef and Culinary Trainer
Sam Oath is Sala Bai Training School’s alumni from 2010-2011.
She has more than 9 years of experience as a Chef. She started her internship at Raffle Grand d’Hotel and La Résidence d'Angkor as a cook trainee in 2011 and was hired to be a full-time cook helper at Borey Angkor Hotel from 2011 to 2014.
In 2017, she joined SPOONS Café Restaurant’s team as Sous Chef until 2019.
In July 2023, she decided to rejoin our family as Assistant Head Chef and Culinary Trainer.

SOKH Kosal
Assistant Head Chef and Culinary Trainer
Kosal graduated in 2016 with a vocational diploma in Culinary Arts from the Regional Polytechnic Institute Techo Sen in Siem Reap.
He began his career with an internship at Silk d’Angkor Boutique Hotel and went on to work at several respected properties including Grand Élysée La Résidence, Angkor Village Resort, Fumizen Japanese Restaurant, and Jaya House River Park, where he contributed to daily operations and menu development.
In July 2023, Kosal joined SPOONS as Assistant Head Chef and Culinary Trainer, bringing his rich and diverse experience to support and inspire the next generation of young Cambodian chefs.

YE Chivorn
Hospitality Trainer
Chivorn is originally from Siem Reap, he was our alumni (EBGOK scholar 2015-2016) under the course of Food and Beverage and Housekeeping. He started his internship at Park Hyatt Siem Reap in Food and Beverage Service and Housekeeping department, then was hired to be a full-time staff with the position of Food and Beverage Service Attendant. After SPOONS reopen, Chivorn was hired as a Hospitality Trainer at SPOONS Cambodia Organization.

LEANG Sinuon
Hospitality Trainer
Sinuon is originally from Tbong Khom province. She was our alumni (EBGOK scholar 2016-2017) under the course of Housekeeping and F&B. After completing the course in 2017, she was an intern at Phum Baitong Resort and Spa. Then she was hired at Angkor Palace Resort and Spa as a Housekeeping Clerk. In 2019, she was promoted to a Housekeeping Coordinator at Memoire Resort and Spa before hired as a Housekeeping Supervisor at FCC Angkor by Avani. In 2021, Sinuon joined SPOONS as a Housekeeping Trainer.

KHAN Narong
Cook Assistant
Narong joined EGBOK in October 2012 as a part-time housekeeper.
She ensures that our facility is kept clean and tidy so that students can focus on their studies. In the afternoon, Narong works at a local café in Siem Reap.
Narong has two sons and hopes to own a small business one day.
Her favorite thing about working at EGBOK is watching the students learn throughout the year and receive jobs after graduating.
She’s recently promoted as a Cook Helper at Spoons Cambodia Organization.

CHAMROEN Phan
Cook Assistant
Phan is originally from Siem Reap province. For education background, he only finished grade 7. Phan is our alumni (EBGOK scholar 2019-2021) under the course of Culinary. After graduating, he become our full time staff working as a Cook Assistant at SPOONS Café and Restaurant. Phan is a very helpful and friendly guy, he also assist our culinary students if they have any questions at the kitchen.

KHAT Cha
Restaurant Server
Cha is originally from Siem Reap province and is the eldest child in her family of 9 members. She had graduated high-school in 2017 and is our alumni (EBGOK scholar 2019-2021) under the course of Food and Beverage and Housekeeping. After graduating, she become our full time staff working as a Restaurant Server at SPOONS Café and Restaurant.

ANG Tongoul
Restaurant Server
Tongoul is originally from Rotanakiri province and she is from Kreung (Khmer: គ្រឹង; Krung), an ethnic group that live in Cambodia, mainly in Ratanakiri Province. For education background, she only finished grade 8. Tongoul is our alumni (EBGOK scholar 2019-2021) under the course of Food and Beverage and Housekeeping. After graduating, she become our full time staff working as a Restaurant Server at SPOONS Café and Restaurant. Tongoul is a very charming and helpful girl, she has been helping a lot around the restaurant and the training campus.

CHHAN Vithuon
English Teacher
Vithuon is from Kompong Thom province but moved to live in Siem Reap in 2016. Currently, he is in his senior year at the University of South-East Asia majoring in Teaching English as a Second Language. He has been a teacher since 2019 with young adult learners.
From 2019-2020, he was an English teacher at Wat Damnak Learning Center teaching Beginner, Elementary, and Pre-intermediate classes. From 2020-2022, he was an English teacher at U-Smart International School, teaching young learners from ages 6 -14 before starting his new job at SPOONS Cambodia Organization as an English teacher to our young adult students age from 18 to 24 years old.

NEOM Tai
Gardener
Tai is originally from Siem Reap. He has 3 children and has a passion for gardening and farming. He is a part of “The Green Farmers Siem Reap Association” and currently he is a part-time gardener at SPOONS Cambodia.

Mrs. SIEN Konnita
Board Director
Konnita has been working in the nonprofit sector in a senior management position for over 10 years. Currently, she is the Finance and Admin Manager at Pepy Empowering Youth (PEPY), a local NGO in Siem Reap where she takes care of the daily accounting, finance, administrative and human resource management.
She graduated with a Bachelor degree in Finance and Banking at the University of South-East Asia in Siem Reap and also studied a short Tax Agent course at the National Tax School in Phnom Penh.
Currently, she is pursuing a Master Degree in Accounting at University of South-East Asia.

Mr. BEKAERT Tommy
Board Vice Chair
Tommy has over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, managing boutique hotels, luxury resorts, and private villas in Cambodia. He spent 12 years as General Manager at Rambutan Hotel & Resort in Siem Reap and later served as Resort Manager at Song Saa Private Island.
A long-time supporter of EGBOK and SPOONS, Tommy has consistently provided internship and job opportunities for students across the properties he managed.
Together with Michelle, he also helped guide the organization through its transition from the US-based EGBOK Mission to the fully Cambodian-run Spoons Cambodia Organization.
Originally from Belgium, Tommy studied Graphic Design & Printing before earning a degree in Business Management and Catering.
As Board Vice Chair, he continues to share his passion for hospitality and remains an active advisor to the local team.

Ms. HOK Sreymom
Board Member
Sreymom is a Cambodian entrepreneur, trainer, and activist dedicated to empowering women and girls through technology.
As an influential Facebook digital tool sharer with 34,000 followers, she provides vital information and resources on business, education, and entrepreneurship.
She also serves as the training manager for the Women In Tech (WTN) chapter, supported by The Asia Foundation, and is a board member of LadySaving Group (LSG).
A passionate advocate for technology's power to improve lives and ensure women reach their full potential, Sreymom is a role model for young women in Cambodia, recognized with the 2024 Women in the Future award from Singapore for her hard work and determination. -
Ms. MORRIN Michelle
Board Secretary
Michelle is the founder and driving force behind Possibilities World, a Cambodia-based training and coaching organization dedicated to unlocking the full potential of individuals and teams.
With over 25 years of experience in leadership and organizational strategy, she brings a unique mix of contagious optimism, deep insight, and a strong belief in human capacity.
Originally from Montreal, Canada and a graduate of Bishop’s University, Michelle has built her career around the belief that within every individual lies infinite possibilities. Whether leading workshops, facilitating retreats, or coaching teams, her facilitation style is grounded, purpose-driven, and energizing.
Together with Tommy, she played a key role in guiding our local team through the transition from the US-based EGBOK Mission to today’s fully Cambodian-led Spoons Cambodia Organization.

Mr. MORK Mengly
Board Member
Head Chef, Food Consultant, Restaurant Owner, Owner of Pinak Pou Food Solutions Consultancy, and Young President Chef of the World Chef Association in Cambodia.
Mengly has a strong connection with Spoons, as he was the Chef who initially helped us set up Spoons Café & Restaurant in 2016.
After graduating from the Hotel School Paul Dubrule in Siem Reap in 2012, Mengly gained experience in several renowned hotels and restaurants before opening his own culinary venture, PinakPou Restaurant in the heart of Wat Bo Village, Siem Reap.
At PinakPou, he reimagines Cambodia’s most authentic street food—crafting innovative fusion dishes that honor Khmer culinary traditions while using unusual ingredients and bold techniques.
We’re proud to have Mengly on our board, where he generously shares his expertise and continues to inspire and support our kitchen team.

Mr. DAVIS Patrick
Board Treasurer
Patrick brings solid experience in nonprofit leadership and fundraising and currently works as Deputy Fundraising Director at Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap. He joined the Spoons board in August 2023 and has been a key part of shaping our financial strategy and long-term planning ever since.
He first got involved with Spoons as a volunteer back in 2022 and quickly became one of our biggest champions. Since then, he’s seen our student numbers grow from just 10 to 78 graduates in 2024.
As our Treasurer, Patrick helps ensure our finances stay healthy and aligned with our mission. He brings great insight, dedication, and a steady hand when it comes to making sure resources are used wisely and sustainably.
We’re lucky to have Patrick on the team—his support, ideas, and passion for creating opportunities for Cambodian youth make a real difference every day.
